Play’n Go Receives Certification To Launch Operations In Portugal

Play N Go Portugal goes live

Recently certified and now able to launch in the country, Play’n Go will be expanding its offerings into the regulated igaming market in Portugal. The popular online casino game and video slot developer will be able to work with both new and existing partners licensed to operate in the Portuguese market.

PokerStars recently launched its own online casino in Portugal and will be among the customers to offer Play’n Go’s slot games following this new certification awarded to the developer.

Johan Törnqvist, the chief executive at Play’n Go, said, “We want as many people as possible to enjoy our games, and we also want our clients, both current and future, to be able to rely on us to have a presence wherever they seek to develop their operations. We’re excited by this move into a new market, and we look forward to exploring more new ground in the future.”

This move into Portugal is already the third such expansion for Play’n Go this year. Earlier in the year, the company brought its catalogue of games to both Sweden and the Philippines. Last year they made their debut in Mexico through a partnership with Logrand Entertainment group. They are also hoping to establish a presence in more markets before 2019 comes to a close.

The regulated market in Portugal opened in 2017, now in its third full year of existence. Online betting and gaming revenue in 2018 totalled €152.1 million, which represents a 24% increase over 2017. Online casino revenue rose from €54.4 million in 2017 to €73.2 million in 2018, an impressive 34% increase.
